Social skills are an important part of the social capacity, which impacting on the interpersonal relationship, the social integration and the social adaptability. The handicapped children are difficult to integrate into society because of the deficit in social skills. This study focus on the area of social-skills intervention with the children of moderate-severe mental retarded (MR), trying to figure out the social skills do they sorely need, the effective methods and strategies, and also the available supplementary. Expect to providing useful information about real cases to professionals and users.This article using Delphi Method, request 15 teachers to grade 191 social-skill items for the propose of finding the social skills that fit in with the MR's needs. Then choose 2 pieces of high-level-needs socil-skills and effective methods to intervene four children with moderate to severe MR.Conclusions. (1) The children with moderate to severe MR need to master a series of social skills, especially the skills of coping with dangerous person, moral rules, some cautious, coping with dangerous circumstances, environment responsibility, personal responsibility and social customs etc..(2) The social skills is trainable and learnable if taking advantage of various advisable intervention methods and school-family-community in collaboration.(3) Determing the intevention-strategies is influence by some factors, such as the children's characteristic features, the level of ability, the nature of the social skills and other resources like manpower and materials resourceshave.(4) It is effective to aggregate five kinds of strategies to spur the children to handle the skills, like behavior modification, language communication, environment changes, teaching strategies and family involvemnet.(5) The teaching strategies and family-breeding plays a powerful role in the social skills training and learning.
