| The study of women's career development is an essential field in the study of career development. Adopting narrative study in qualitative research to explore the career change of one professional woman, the thesis attempts to discuss the internal and external factors influencing her career change on the basis of her story presented from her growing course, education background and career change, with the aim of arousing concern and thought on personal, family, and social factors in the career development of women, especially of the young ones.The thesis falls into four chapters. It begins with motivation for the study, research aims and questions as well as research designs. Chapter Two reviews relevant literature on the following three aspects:theories of women's career development, factors influencing women's career development and theories of career change. Chapter Three is to present and interpret the text of the career development of the woman interviewed. Chapter Four makes a summary on the interpretation of Chapter Three, followed by relevant suggestions put forward on some conclusions.The conclusions are made as follows:1) The contemporary professional women have more opportunities to develop their career than those in the past.2) Family education affects individuals' self-identity, motivation for achievement and attitude to work.3) Some educational ideas on campus influences the direction of individuals' career development.4) Introspection is a key factor for individuals to change their career.5) Support from family is a key factor to women's career development; 6) The contemporary women are expected to put emphasis on study... |
