To improve the efficiency and quality of teaching, our school, the High School Affiliated to Lishui University, has promoted a campaign named "Sustainable Teaching Appraisal" since 2008, inviting education experts as well as experienced teachers to establish the appraisal group, attending classes randomly to investigate and diagnose the problems appearing in the classroom. In the meantime, we try to find a way in which we can benefit teachers as well as students. Based upon the theories of Benjamin Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, Mastery Learning and Constructivism Learning Theory, the study, in the first place, is to investigate the current situation of English teaching and learning in senior high school classrooms in the High School Affiliated to Lishui University. The findings suggest that there remain problems in teachers' goal awareness and students'self-development resulting from a lack of the ability of applying teaching theories.The research methods adopted in the study were case study, action research, heterogeneous classroom observation, etc. The data collected from a period of more than one year mainly came from interviews, teachers' reflective journals and questionnaires given to the students. Finally, a narrative account emerged as a result of analyzing the data:1. we have pervaded the teaching theories and methods about New Curriculum teaching objectives and improved the teachers'goal awareness and their ability of objective-oriented class designing; 2. we have explored the idea that "teaching objectives should be served as the core of teaching procedures" and its theory of application, and then formed the framework as well as operational approaches of Senior English Objective Orientation Teaching Models; 3. we managed to form a series of teaching cases and guiding opinions according to Senior English Objective Orientation Teaching Models to help teacher learning and guide their teaching designs.The study was mainly conducted in the High School Affiliated to Lishui University, however, two relevant experiments carried out in other schools were selected to do intensive study for they typically showed the disadvantages and advantages of different teaching approaches as well as models between different schools.This study intends to provide an alternative way of designing a English class suitable to the students like our school's. And hopefully, it can be applied to the classrooms in and out of our school.
