| This paper is a research work on the formulation of Primary school English teaching objectives. The research work is conducted on the theories of learning objectives, linguistic and psychology for the purpose of fully developing each student.The learning objectives here mean teachers'guidelines for a whole year teaching or a term or a period teaching. These guidelines are the combination of national education policy, local curriculum standard and the actual English practice.In this essay, the author uses the methods of literature review, interviewing, discussing and case study. The first part of the essay is about the literature review of the learning objective theories both home and abroad. The SLA (second language acquisition) features and students'psychological characteristics are also illustrated and analyzed. The second part is the most important part. The author first explains the concept, the function and the classification of learning objectives for primary school English teaching. Then, the author states the elements, the premises, the principles, the methods and expressions should be adopted and applied in learning objectives making with arguments and case-analysis. Suggestions of how to formulate the teaching objectives are made as follows:(1) the learning objectives should be based on education policy, local curriculum standard and the actual English practice and students'needs; (2) the defining of the learning objectives should be clear, accurate and complete. (3) Priorities should be given to students' language-cognition and language competence. The arguments are supported with a case study in an X International Primary School on how to plan and formulate the learning objectives.The purpose of this research is to call more English educators'attenion to the plan and formulating learning objectives for primacy school English teaching. It is the author's wish that this study will be further developed. |
