The professional development of teachers has increasingly become the focus of the educational field. With the deepening reform of the new curriculum, there is no such callings as the main subjects and the secondary coursess in middle school or primary school. However the existence of such concept is still the fact.The secondary coursess t is a name called by the front line teachers to refer to other courses besides Chinese, Maths and English .Secondary coursess in primary school include Music, Art, PE, Moral, Science and Information Technology, etc. With the new curriculum reform making astounding today in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, where the school-based research is in full swing, small subject teachers' professional development still can't enjoy the same treatment as the teachers of Chinese, Maths and English, and will still be in an awkward status.How is the professional development of young teachers in the rural areas going on? What kind of professional development do they need? The subject investigated is the full-time teachers of the secondary coursess in Suzhou. During the research, 46 schools have been chosen to carry out the questionnaire to understand and analyze the basic status of such teachers of the secondary coursess, as well as their development needs and professional development status, etc.. And the principals of these schools have also been questionnaired to see what measures they have taken to help the professional development of young teachers of secondary coursess. On this basis, the strategies of the professional development of the related teacher have been proposed.Firstly, the author puts forward the concept of teachers'professional development, explains its characteristics and analyzed its reasons, The research findings of the current domestic and abroad studies in this field, such as the paths of teachers'professional development have also been summerized and reviewed. Secondly, questionaires have been used to understand and analyze the basic status of young teachers of secondary coursess in rural areas as well as their teaching and professional development status, etc. Principals of the related schools have also been questionaired to find the requirements and current status of the prefessional development of secondary coursess. Detailed analysis of the affecting factors of the professional development of the young teachers of secondary coursess in the rural areas has also been carried out. Thirdly, on the basis of understanding and analysis of the current status of the professional development of the young teachers of secondary coursess in the rural areas, the paths of their professional development are proposed, including the transformation of the educational ideas, the planning of the ways of the development and the promotion of the community construction, etc finally come the conclusion of this research and the inspiration for school and small subject teachers in the area of professional development.
