Over the last few decades, many researchers have undertaken in the field of L2 education, such as teacher's personal charm, students'learning motivation, etc. Teacher's personal charm is a complicated system of required qualities including physical, academic, moral, intellectual and creative charm. It is shown in the educational activities that determine the effect of their education and teaching, and influence the students'moral and physical development.On the basis of the previous researches, the present study probe into the effect of high school English teacher's personal charm on students' English learning motivation. It is undertaken for the following purposes:1) to probe into what kind of high school English teacher is charming in students and teachers'eyes; 2) to inquire into what effect of high school English teacher's personal charm on students'English learning motivation; 3) to provide some suggestions on how to motivate students effectively.The thesis consists of eight chapters.Chapter one introduces the main ideas and structure of the thesis.Chapter two gives an overview of previous studies of learning motivation both abroad and at home.Chapter three provides the theoretical foundations:the classification of learning motivation and some influencing motivation variables for high school students.Chapter four provides information about different types of teacher's personal charm, their relationship with students'learning motivation and the importance of them on stimulating learning motivation.Chapter five presents the design of the present study in details.Chapter six analyzes the data collected and discusses the result.Chapter Seven illustrates the limitation of the study, meanwhile provides some suggestions on motivating high school English learners with help of teacher's personal charm.Chapter Eight concludes the thesis and emphasize the main ideas again.It is worth pointing out that the present study has only shed light on certain aspects of the effect of high school English teacher's personal charm on students'English learning motivation. And the result in the study leaves much to be verified in the future.
