The Research & The Inspiration Of The American College Moral Education

The current era is filled up with revolutions and reforms. Meanwhile, it is an era intended to fusion and unification. With the progresses of globalization and internationalization of college education, communications between countries and nationalities on economy, culture, ideology and educational ideas have been largely developed. The college moral education (abbreviated as the CME) has become a heated issue day after day. Strategic objectives on the CME are made by governments throughout the world, recognizing it is a must for education on teenagers and the development of a country. Under this situation, it is of great practical value to put a research on CME in western countries, especially on those which aiming down upon teenagers. This article takes the United States, which internationally topped politics, economy and education, as a specimen to look for inspirations on moral education for our own. The research is conducted from aspects as below:Aspect A, there is an analysis on the true nature and basic concepts of American CME. Firstly the background and value have been pointed out in the foreword, then proceeded to the statement and analysis on the evolution, the original resource, the main content and the fundamental features of the American CME one by one. During the last century, the current CME in America has experienced the historic stages of conflict, recession and revives. It was a booming age for various theories on CME during the 1960s. When it came to the 1980s, the American CME had experienced a series of changes due to the strong actions from the educational circle together with support from the government. As a result, the CME had been strengthened day after day. The pragmatism is the philosophic base of the college education. It is equipped with solid feasibility, strong coherence while it highlighted the positive impact that the scientific method casted upon the moral education. Further more, the pragmatism concern about actions, utility and is of rationality. As the result of that, it was respected and observed by Americans. Besides, it was regarded as the Prime subject and was permeated throughout the educational circle in America. The content of the CME included patriotism, legality, value, morality and psychology, among which each has its own emphasis and stance. For example, the patriotism emphasizes on historic stance; the legality concerns about the production of qualified citizens while the moral education pay attention to build up integrity, etc.Aspect B, this article has analyzed the approaches of the American CME through five aspects covering lecture education, professional permeation, psychological assistant, social practice and situational influence. After the research on American colleges and the consultation through a great quantity of reference, the author received a deep inspiration:the American CME received a great output with a cheap input. The American CME has got ahead of ours especially on the development and practice. It has been discovered that classrooms, social environment, and even families can be approaches of the CME in the United States. Base on this condition, the American CME is done by the whole society, or in other words, the CME, the ideological and political education is almost everywhere.Aspect C, it is recommended to learn from others, for overcoming ourselves. Base on the progressive discussion on the American CME and the current situation in China, the author was deeply enlightened. Meanwhile, as teacher major on the CME in China, the author sincerely felt a sense of urgency that there are still plenty issues need to be reconsidered. For example, what is the comprehensive social cognition on the Chinese CME; how to form the joint force by the society, schools and families; how to strengthen the feasibility of the CME; how to regard the permeation of the CME; how to promote the unification of theory and practice on the CME; how to handle the personal development of teenagers and how to treat our history. Through the research on a list of issues we can achieve further development on the path of our CME under this modern era.All in all, we can learn plenty of experiences from the CME and of America.
