In the past, in composition teaching pupils were generally only provided with a complete model essay, and rarely used incomplete model essays. However, the authors believe that the results of learning some types of incomplete model essays may be better than the results of learning a complete model essay. In order to verify the hypothesis, authors establish a evaluating indicator of pupils'narrative writing, and design one complete model essay and 8 different types of incomplete model essays.A total of 300 third-grade pupils are randomly divided into 10 groups ,one group is the control group, other 9 experimental groups are experimental groups. At the begin of the experiment, the experimenters present a narrative with the same subject to the 10 groups. After pupils complete the composition 10 minutes, the control group does not learn anything model essay, and other 9 experimental groups respectively learn one type incomplete model essay. After 30 minutes, the experimenters present a subject to the 10 groups as the same as before, then let pupils complete the composition.According to the evaluating indicator of pupils'narrative writing, assess the pre and post narrative writing performances, and calculate the total scores and the sub-scores. Compared with the control group, narrative writing performances of experimental groups are all significantly promoted. At the total score, the performance of"added the end"incomplete model essay learning group is best, the performance of"added elements"incomplete model essay learning group is least. At the score of article frame,the performance of complete model essay learning group is best, the performance of"added elements"incomplete model essay learning group is least.At the score of article content,the performance of"fill the contents"incomplete model essay learning group is best,the performance of"added elements"incomplete model essay learning group is least. At the score of good words and sentences,the performance of complete model essay learning group is best,the performance of"filled beginning and middle content"incomplete model essay learning group is least.There is no different between the score of writing mistakes.
