Security dilemmas have always been great contacts with the international security order, and an effective security mechanism can relieve and avoid, to certain degree, the difficult situation of security.After the Cold War, the security environment in East Asia is unsatisfactory, of which the security dilemma has become one the most significant characteristics of East Asia. And ever since then, East Asian countries have been fully preparing to establish a multilateral security mechanism not only in security philosophy but in real conditions. Many inspiring achievements have been scored in the establishment of this multilateral security mechanism through years of great endeavors, with the ARF just one example. As for choosing what kind of multilateral security mechanism, East Asian countries have selected the cooperative security model through lots of practices. The great achievements East Asian countries have scored fully proves that the multilateral security cooperative model can exert very positive effect, and its further development and improvement is very conducive to the peace, stability and development of East Asian region.Though great progress has been made, the development of the multilateral security cooperation mechanism is still in the primary stages with many constraints, challenges and problems lying ahead. Through detailed analysis, this paper proposes some suggestions for the development and improvement of this security cooperation mechanism in the conclusion, which, I hope, can be of certain help for further studies in this perspective.
