Empirical Research On The Relationship Between Present Crime Rate Increasing And Residence Income Gap Enlarging In China

Nowadays, China is in a transforming period from traditional agriculture to industrialization and information age. The structure of social stratum and many-faceted interests is inevitable result when China is in social transforming station. As new interest coordination and integration structure have not been built in nowadays-interest-structure period, distribution unfairness phenomenon appeared on distribution relationship. China is cultural tradition of country that exists "Not being afraid of lack but unfairness" and the messes have low psychology ability to accept the income-difference caused by unfair distribution. Especially when the individual compares his situation with some standards and cross-reference things, and think he should gain but actually not. Then he will have resentment and dissatisfaction and even appear the acting deviation caused by frustration psychology and unfair feeling. The deviant action, in Durkheim' eyes, as a kind of condition that society or group comparatively lacks normal control, and its root is in society-community senses declines an individual desire expansion rapidly. It is possible to become a criminal because personal psychology feels unfair, society lacks relevant control mechanism, and the individual desires for the fortune strongly.This paper has used statistics that was in criminal rate and resident-income-difference of 1980 to 2002 and the co-integration analysis of the relationship above. And its aim is to reveal the specific relation between the criminal rate increased and resident received income differently, and combine the criminal society theory so that people understand the relationship deeply.There are six parts in this paper. The first part is introduction, this chapter is described some phenomena because of people' s relative poverty and turning to criminals, it is demonstrated the economy harm of crime from the criminal external features and then raised the research theme. The second part set out home and abroad scholars' theory achievements from the economics angle and brought up the train of thought and creativities. The third part mainly reflected income-difference state and criminal state in today' s Chinese residents. The fourth part is the core in this paper. Firstly, the author introduce indication measure crime rate and resident-income - difference, then apply Grange causality tested whether it exists cause and effect between crime rate increased and resident-income-difference enlarged, and using co-integration analyzed long-term and short-term relationship between nowadays crime increased in China and resident-income-difference enlarged. And the result of demonstration showed that the above two had appeared striking correlation no matter in long-term and short-term. The fifth part was the demonstration analysis, then the political suggestions were brought out to the result of prevention and control from two aspects. One was how to narrow the income difference between residents, the other was how to prevent and control criminal in a better way. The sixth part was the conclusion in the paper. Considered China is in the transforming periods of modernization, it pointed out the relationship between understanding crime rate increasing and resident-income-difference. Finally it showed the weak points in theory and put forward further thinking about the crime study.
