| To investigate the state of the mental health of the Armed Police and its relationship with self-efficacy and self-esteem, providing references for mental health education and psychological training in the Armed Police, this research utilizes Symptom Check List 90(SCL-90), the General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES), and Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale(SES) as instruments. The sample including 475 Armed Policemen and women has been scored and analyzed. The results show as following: (1) Their general state of the mental health is not bad. Except that factor scores of somatization and paranoid ideation are greatly higher than those in civilian's norm, other factor scores are lower or close to those of civilian's norm, and among which obsessive compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity and depression show highly significant differences (p<0.01). (2) Somatization, hostility and bigotry are the main factors influencing their status of mental health. (3) Sex, growing environment and military station also have influence on their conditions of mental health. (4) The state of mental health in the group of high self-efficacy is much better than that in low-self-efficacy group. (5)The state of mental health in the group of high self-esteem is much better than that in low-self-esteem group. (6) By partial correlative analysis of SCL-90, self-efficacy and self-esteem, We find self-esteem is little related to SCL-90 average score, and almost be neglected. The relation between self-efficacy and SCL-90 average score is not so close as expected, but still with the level of -0.179. It is suggested that while mental health education and psychological training are conducted, more importance should be attached to somatization, bigotry and hostility, to the policewomen and other special groups. By different means enhance their self-efficacy and improve their condition of mental health. According to the assignments of the Armed Police imitating training should be encouraged in order to improve their psychological adaptability and endurance. |
