A Study On Occupational Stress And Mental Health Of Front-line Police

Front-line police are engaged in one of the most threatening professions nowdays,so they have always attracted the attention of the masses and the media.Because the front-line police are the most dangerous occupation,they are more vulnerable to occupational stress and mental health.The object of this study is the front-line police in Sanming City.The purpose of this study is to propose corresponding solutions according to the real situation of professional stress and mental health of the front-line police in Sanming City.There are three kinds of research tools used by the author:first,the Police Occupational Stress Source Questionnaire;second,SCL-90;third,the professional statistical analysis software SPSS Statistics.Through the field investigation of 118 front-line policemen in Sanming City,the author concludes that the overall level of professional stress of front-line policemen in Sanming City is relatively high.Among the four groups of factors in the police occupational stress source questionnaire,the two factors with the highest score are occupational characteristicsand social environment.This situation stems from the professional pressure of the front-line police in Sanming City,mainly from the overweight work tasks and negative social evaluation.On the one hand,the high scores of these two factors indicate that the front-line police in Sanming City have too many tasks in their daily work,and sometimes their abilities do not match the work content.On the other hand,the front-line police often feel that their abilities and methods have not been correctly evaluated by the society when dealing with the police situation,thus generating negative emotions.According to the results of SCL-90,the mental health of the front-line policemen in Sanming City is very unsatisfactory,and many of them can be considered as positive in the first-line policemen who participated in the investigation.Among them,the first-line police in Sanming City have obvious symptoms of obsessive-compulsive symptoms,depression and somatization.This is because,compared with other professions,front-line policemen often see the darkest side of the society in their work.Some illegal elements are easy to cause unhealthy psychology to front-line policemen.The relationship between professional stress and mental health of front-line police in Sanming City is very close.The author tries to put forward measures to alleviate the professional stress of front-line police in Sanming City,so as to solve the mental health problems of front-line police.
