Party's Intellectual Policy Since New China And The Influence On China's Modernization

On the whole we can divide the evolution of Party's intellectual policy and China's modernization progress to three periods. During the period from the founding of New China to the preliminary completion of socialism reform, the party put forward the policy named as "solidarity, education and renovation" for pre-revolution intellectuals, and positively practiced the policy from aspects of operations arranging, political terms and employment, thought remolding. Due to the policy during the period was proper basically, it push on the start of modernization process of China. Form 1957 to 1976, because the Party's intellectual policy was characterized as "left" tendency and made serious mistakes, the 20-year stagnation of development of society and economy was resulted and modernization progress was constrained. Since China adopted the policy of reform and opening up, the core of the Party's intellectual policy in new period time was respecting knowledge and talent, and the policy was unceasingly enriched and improved. The social status of intellectual was raised unprecedentedly, and China's modernization construction went into rapidly development time.The history had displayed the significant value of intellectual in construction of modern society. There was close relationship between Party's intellectual policy and modernization progress, which was the course promoted each other. If the subject of policy can objectively recognize intellectual and formulate proper policy, intellectual, as policy's object, may demonstrated their enthusiasm and creativeness; and positive promotion each other emerged between intellectual and modernization process. Otherwise, unbalanced relationship appeared between both sides. Through inspecting the relationship between Party's intellectual policy and China's modernization progress, we can got some historical enlightenness as follow: right realizing and evaluating the class belong, status and function of intellectual was a premise to establish correct intellectual policy; intellectual policy was key factor that effected intellectual contribution to modernization construction; so long as we attached importance to both humanity intellectual and science intellectual, the socialist modernization would be moved forward entirely. In order to keep the stability and continuity of intellectual policy, we should recognize intellectual's strategy role for modernization construction, and abandon pragmatism thought concerning employing intellectual.
