Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), a conception put forward by a famous American IT analytical company GartnerGroup according to the development of IT industry and enterprise's demand for the supply chain, experienced from obturated MRP to MRP II and then to ERP3. ERP3 expands the administrative scope of MRP II, closely connects suppliers, the purchase, production and sale inside the enterprise and customers, integrates other functions of an enterprise such as human resources, quality administration, and decision support etc., and thus can fulfill the effective management of all taches of the supply chain, control the enterprise trends and integrate and optimize many a resources by Internet, Intranet and Extranet, and E-commerce, etc.. In this way, the target of reasonably and efficiently utilizing the enterprise's resources is attained. ERP, introjected the latest achievement on the advanced ideas and information technology of enterprise administration, is the embodiment of advanced administrative thoughts as well as a functional software. This paper, Huawu Company as its object, explores the implement of the ERP system in the manufacturing industry in China, including ERP system design, implement, evaluation, and the experiences in its application in Huawu company, which can be used for reference for other manufacturing enterprises. In this paper, the factors which affects the ERP implement as summarized in the follows: 1. ERP administration pattern should be constructed on the basis of the business process reorganization. BPR (business process reorganization) is centered by operation, shakes off the binding of traditional division of work theory, and introduces various forms such as customers'guidance, organization versatility, staff authorization, etc. to adapt the quickly changing conditions. Since there is a great gap in management between Chinese enterprises and those foreign ones, it is necessary to change or adjust the former business processes before applying the ERP system to meet the requirements of computer information processing and the working styles. When an enterprise adopts the ERP system, the traditional management mechanism, business process, organization structure, administration functions and bylaws should be properly changed according to the characteristics of computer data processing to establish an advanced business process pattern. According to the business process scope and the features of reorganization, Huawu company has reorganized the following three main business processes: First, the business process reorganization inside the functional departments; Second, the business process reorganization between the functional departments; And last, the business process reorganization between enterprises. 2. An enterprise should have new administrative thoughts and operation ideas. To adapt the requirement of new conditions, Huawu company has abandoned traditional administrative patterns, shifted the operation ideas, and increased its own efficiency. 3. The factor of human being is emphasized in the implement of ERP system. In the implement of ERP system, Huawu company set up an ERP group, and trained its members and made every one comprehend the ERP principles and familiarize its operation requirements. Besides this, Huawu company encourages its staff to check and improve those processes related to their daily job for the purpose of understanding and simplifying these processes. In thisway, the workers will have a sense of participation, lessen their anti-reform minds, and have more impetus. Since it is a complicated process to implement the ERP system, to emphasize and fully utilize an enterprise's human resources is an indispensable factor. That is to say, the human resources in the enterprise, as an important resource, has received much attention and is regarded as the root of an enterprise. Thus, it is natural to have human resources as an independent factor in the ERP system. The exploration and application of human resources management in the enterprise helps to implement the ERP system. Meanwhile, the training and encouragement of the staff can increase their trust of the enterprise, promote their unity, improve their coherence, and thus form a team spirit in the development of the enterprise. 4. The enterprise should select appropriate ERP software. The successful implement of ERP system concerns complex software and advanced computer technology. Although ERP software has its generality and flexibility, yet in the implement of ERP system the installment of complex software is one thing, whether the enterprise can match the ERP system is another. While selecting ERP system, Huawu company has taken into consideration its own developing and operating conditions and its inside and outside environments, adopted the ERP mode which embodies its own administrative features and accords with various rules and stipulations in China to effectively function the ERP administrative patterns. ERP is not only an information management software; it contains advanced administrative thoughts and supply chain control. It is wrong to believe that it is all right just to invest certain capital to purchase computer hardware and certain ERP software, or take it as a shortcut to success. So far the ERP system has not been introduced in many enterprises or has not been successfully implemented in China.
