Mao Zedong Thought is one of the thought which had affected China and the World most, in which Mao Zedong's military thinking is also an important part of Mao Zedong Thought. Meanwhile war prisonerpolicy is an indispensable and important element in Mao Zedong's military thinking. Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy are not exactly the same policy in different periods. For example, the Agrarian Revolutionary War period, the Sino-Japanese War and the War of Liberation are not identical. The Agrarian Revolution is the development and formative period of Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy. In this period, Mao Zedong adopted the preferential treatment which takes form of the participation of the Red Army who'd like to stay, and sending out travel expenses who'd like to go. Anti-Japanese War is the development of Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy. Mao Zedong's Anti-Japanese War prisoner of war policies have not only inherited the policy of the preferential treatment of the Agrarian Revolution period, but for different enemy prisoners of war also put forward different policies, such as the policy of treating the Japanese and puppet troops is not exactly the same as the policy of treating puppet troops and diehard and so on. The war of liberation is the maturity stage of Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy. After obtaining the successful experience of war prisoner policy in the first two periods, Mao Zedong also put forward a series of creative policy in the War of Liberation which combined with the side effects of land reform policy, reconstruct and absorb a large number of captured Kuomintang soldiers, so that the victory of the liberation war greatly accelerated the pace.To sum up we can see that Mao's war prisoner policy has a very strong flexibility, commonality, and uniqueness of several characteristics. Flexibility refers to Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy in different periods and different historical backgrounds and facing different enemies of Mao Zedong have made various prisoner of war policy in order to achieve the greatest degree of differentiation and collapse of the enemy, so that to gain the purpose of losing enemy's combat power. Commonality refers to that although Mao Zedong's war prisioner policy is not identical in every period, every different background of the times, it is commonal; that is, no matter at any time and in the face of any enemy, Mao Zedong has always put preferential treatment of prisoners of war, strengthen the prisoners of war propaganda and ideological education first among the three policies. The uniqueness of Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy is that only the Chinese Communist Party and its People's Army can successfully apply Mao Zedong's policy, this is because the Chinese Communist Party is the representative of the proletariat, the overwhelming majority of the national people's fundamental interests, and the Kuomintang reactionaries and their local warlords can not be copied according to prisoners of war with Mao Zedong's policies because it represents the big landlords, big capitalists, imperialists this small part of the People's interests. So it was bound to fail.Mao Zedong's war prisoner policy to us in fact is, only the Chinese Communist Party has always been safeguarding the basic interests of the overwhelming majority of people can enjoy the support of the people, the state can be a long-term. Our party members and cadres must be able to serve the people wholeheartedly and prestige among the masses. We must learn from the war years, as transformation of enemy prisoners of war, and mobilize all positive factors to contribute to national economic construction, the state can become prosperous and strong.
