The Study Of The Speaking Mandarin Campaign In Singapore

Since the speaking mandarin campaign was carried out by the Singapore government in 1979, it has achieved notable achievements in education and every aspect of the society. Early in the first decade of the mandarin campaign, mandarin became major family terminology replacing dialects, which completed the first goal of the mandarin campaign proposed by senior minister Lee Kuanyew. However, the way of Chinese sports development is not easy. Because of Singapore's special national conditions, it not only faces the huge challenges from English, but also faces Singapore's multiethnic problem. Singapore government has been emphasized in English since 1965, which makes English become the major language of Chinese family gradually. Therefore, on one hand, the target of spreading Chinese culture has not been realized; on the other hand make the campaign lost Chinese family, which is the last and most important bastion of mandarin. Although the development road is tough, its achievement is indelible. We can not turn a blind eye to it. It has its values. The government's best promotion and the social's full support are the best proof.In this paper, according to the different key factors of Singapore Chinese, Chinese sport is divided into two phases. The article mainly elaborates these two stages, including the cause of mandarin campaigns, the results and the future of Chinese in Singapore, and makes evaluations.
