With the end of the cold war and the rising of the economic globalization tide, the international security situation eases up overall and the surrounding environment of China is improved greatly. With the fast development of the reform and opening-up and the improved incorporation in the global economic integration, it is difficult to totally avoid various kinds of international disputes while China makes profit from it. Although china gets much more chances to develop and wider space to develop, the crisis factors facing China and threatening the security of the country and the social stability are increasing. Under this background, China has changed its concept of regional security regimes gradually and has been participating in the construction of the regional security regimes with more positive attitude after the cold war, in the hope of creating good surrounding environment for the social development of China and the smooth realization of peaceful rising. This text makes it as the research centre that China participates in the regional security regimes after the cold war and analyses concretely the practice that China participates in it. The text is divided into four parts.Chapter one explains the general theory of regimes, international regimes and international security regimes. The theory of regional security regimes is subordinated into the category of international security regimes, so the study of the regional security regimes requires the presentation of the general theory of the international regimes.Chapter two expounds how China has been participating in the construction of the regional security regimes actively after the cold war, and the process impels the change of China's idea upon safety; thus, China proposes the new security concept. The forming and proposition of the new security concept have promoted the practices that China participates in the construction of the regional security regimes. According to the inter-dynamic between the new security concept and China's participation in the regimes of the regional security, it analyses the transition of the views of China's participation in the regimes of the regional security.Chapter three takes the following four regional security regimes as examples to analyze the specific practices that China had when participating in the regional security regimes. Fisrt, China, Russia and Vietnam delimited boundary lines through setting up dialogue regimes; secondly, China presided over the six-part talks of Korea's nuclear question; thirdly, China led Shanghai Co-operation Organization; last, China signed " code of conduct of the South China Sea" with Association of South-east Asian Nations on the dispute existed on the Nanhai area.Chapter four mainly analyses the opportunity and challenge that China face participating in the regional security regimes. Its opportunity is that China's strategic security environment is improved, its economy develops fast, and its international influence increases constantly. Its challenge is that the danger and impact affecting China from the external world increases.
