| Looking back at the end do the 20th century,people have already achieved substantial awareness of the environmental problems of the global village:environmental degradation,rapid climate change,destruction of the ozone layer etc. Many people have already devoted much effort and attention to the cause of environmental protection and environmentally-friendly development. The field of tourism has also changed direction,from large-scale to small-scale touristic developments. To solve the problems raised by earlier large-scale tourism,there have been widespread calls for a new policy of responsible tourism.Green tourism perfectly answers the needs of a changing society and environment. At the same time,it represents a new form of travel,based on a naturalistic agricultural environment as background.This thesis describes the aim of green tourism as a program that,while maintaining the precondition of ecological protection,simultaneously fulfils the goals of invigorating the rural economy and satisfying the tourism desires of urban dwellers. In discussing the background of the green tourism concept,I first carry out a detailed analysis of green tourism programs in several developed countries;then discuss the case study of farmstays in Youai district,Pi country,Chengdu city,Sichuan. Through these examples,I illustrate the process of development from the first stage of green tourism planning. |
