The Three Gorges Project (TOP) is a multi-purpose conservancy project producing comprehensive benefits mainly in flood control, power generation and navigation improvement. It is situated only 38 km from the Gezhouba conservancy Project. The Gezhouba Project is a downstream reverse-regulating reservoir of TGP.Accompany with the deepness reform of electric system and rapid growth of the country's social economy and improvement of people's living standard, the demand of electric energy and the difference between the peak load and valley load are becoming larger and larger. The cascade hydropower stations should take part in power system load peak-regulating, In analysis the three gorges hydropower station in flood season has relatively stable peak-regulating capacity, 6000-8000MW, and 12000MW in dry season.This thesis focuses on the research of the cascade short-term and real-time optimal dispatch. To the cascade stations, optimal dispatch is economic dispatch in essential. That is ,to get the maximum generating profit by means of dispatch under the condition of certain inflow, or under the circumstance of meeting the certain generation plan, cost the minimum water. The author separates the short-term optimal dispatch into two periods, weekly- optimal dispatch and daily- optimal dispatch; in real-time optimal dispatch, researchs on automatic generation control(AGC),and presents the mathematics models of weekly- circulating optimal dispatch ,daily-circulating optimal dispatch and AGC, expounds their interrelations.
