Higher Art Education in China has started its development history since the beginning of the 20th century. Emerging from the first professional art school in 1912 to the eight main Academies of Fines Arts today, differences of campus morphology in Chinese Academies of Fine Arts occurred during various historical stage, which showing different uniqueness. In this paper, analyses begin with social patterns, economic life, cultural background, and ideology in different historical periods, and there is a transverse analysis on morphological characteristics of Academies of Fine Arts in every social vicissitude and the relationship between the nation and society.On above-mentioned basis, this paper organizes the development process of campus morphology of Academies of Fine Arts with a lengthwise perspective, and also concludes that social patterns, economic conditions and educational philosophy are the decisive factors within the process. The study holds a great perspective of interdisciplinary studies on campus morphological development and the historical evolution of Chinese Academies of Fine Arts, and moreover, it discusses the rules of evolution.Simultaneously, this paper is also doubt of the full swing of campus constructing. With an analysis of its causes and the pros and cons, it is hoped that there is more calmness and more thinking in future campus planning, and hope that this paper could afford some useful thoughts for future campus development.
