The former study on the water conservancy of Dianchi Lake in the history concentrated on Haikou, the only outlet of Dianchi Lake. The same aim of all projects of water conservancy at Haikou area was falling the level of Dianchi Lake, reducing the water area of Dianchi Lake and stabilizing or enlarging the area of plantation. After the water area of Dianchi Lake reducing, people built water control projects for irrigation or flood-control at the Six-river area in north of Dianchi Lake ----the most important area of Dianchi Lake area----where an enormous net of water control formed during Qing Dynasty. There is not any specialized and systematic research on the water conservancy in the Six-river area in north of Dianchi Lake during Qing Dynasty according to the existing former researches. I try to coordinate the historical literatures systematically in this dissertation so as to study this problem specially and systematically. The Introduction introduces the importance of the research, the main concepts, the former study and the main historical materials in the dissertation.Chapter One defines the Six Rivers, introduces the geographical background of the Six-river area and the shaping process of the water-control net at the Six-river area.Chapter Two introduces the process of the development of water-control and agriculture at Panlongjiang River area, and concludes that the water-control functions of each section of Panlongjiang River were different: the upriver section saved up water by Songhua Dam for the irrigation of Jinzhi River, the middle reaches controlled flood, and the many child-rivers at the downriver area irrigated the farmland in south or southwest of Kunming City.Chapter Three introduces the process of the development of water-control and agriculture at Jinzhi River area, and concludes that the main water-control function of Jinzhi River was irrigating the plantation in east of Panlongjiang River.Chapter Four introduces the process of the development of water-control and agriculture at Yinzhi River area, and concludes that the main water-control function of Yinzhi River was irrigating the plantation in north of Kunming City.Chapter Five introduces the process of the development of water-control and agriculture at Baoxiang River area, and concludes that the main water-control function of Baoxiang River was irrigating the plantation in southeast of Kunming City.Chapter Six introduces the process of the development of water-control and agriculture at Maliao River area, and concludes that the main water-control function of Maliao River was irrigating the plantation between in southeast of Kunming City and in the north of Chenggong County.Chapter Seven introduces the process of the development of water-control and agriculture at Haiyuan River area, and concludes that the main water-control function of Haiyuan River was irrigating the plantation in west of Kunming City. The Conclusion sums up the different water-control functions of the Six Rivers, especially the different characters between Panlongjiang River and other five rivers. Building child-rivers was also an important measure for flood-control at the Six-river area besides traditional measures. It is mentioned that irrigation according to every"row"was reasonable and effective.
