Jia Ding County Water Conservancy In Ming And Qing Dynasty

After being built up in South Song dynasty, Jiading county was always an important combination in Su-Song district. During Ming and Qing dynasty, Jiading county was keeping in economic flourishing and there were so many literati appeared. It was a characteristic to describe it"all great writings were in Jiading". Many olden scholars wrote some records about Jiading's geography, especially rivers related.In light of these ancient documents, we found there were so many rivers in Jiading county. Liu river was in front of Jiading county and Wu -song river was behind it. In addition, Heng-li and Lian-qi river divided Jiading county into a cross.Jiading county was not lack of water, but because it was near the sea, morning and evening tides brought a great number of sandy soils to jam rivers. Meanwhile, according to Jiading county's geographic feature , highlands suffered from flood and lowlands suffered from drought. In order to solve these problems, people in Jiading county depended on water conservancy project.In this dissertation, Jiading county was to be a typical case in Su-Song district and we made use of historical documents to analysis that people in Jiading county how to execute the water conservancy project.
