Research On Pragmatic Function Of "Zhebu" As A Discourse Marker

The academic community have reached a common view on the features of discourse markers."zhebu" has the basic features and functions of discourse markers:the proposition does not affect the sentence information,convergence function is greater than the information function,so it can be regarded as a discourse marker.The core meaning of "zhebu" is "confirmatory",speakers and writers expressed the further elaboration to make the content be more comprehensive in order to strengthen the awareness of salience.Its main pragmatic functions include discourse coherence function, interpersonal function and metapragmatic function.This paper also has a study on the evolution of processes and formation mechanism of "zhebu" as a discourse marker .The pragmatic functions of "zhebu" as a discourse marker originated from the late Ming Dynasty,formalized in the period of "Minguo".On the basis of the indicative of pronoun "zhe" ,the pragmatic functions developed from the content rhetorical question.markers researeh.The full text is divided into 6 parts:The first part is the introduction;Chapter 2 probes into its function devoted to coherence in the textual frame;Chapter 3 analyses its function in interpersonal frame;Chapter 4 analyses its function in metapragmatic frame;Chapter 5 probes into the origination and developing locus from synchronic and diachronic aspects;The last part is the conclusion of the dissertation that summarizes the result of study briefly and pointed out the value of further research.
