The hope belongs to personality scope and refers to a stable hope level which an individual could span situation and time. The proactive coping refers to a management by objectives which individuals utilize all kinds of actual, informational and emotional effective resources in advance to realize the target and individual growth when facing challenges in the future. Even as a significant part in positive psychology, however, few empirical studies about hope and proactive coping was done in domestic. College students are the kernel part in future Chinese society and the study of cultivating college students'positive psychology have a significant meaning to education and developing of the society.Our research aims to find out the fact that mediation effect of family function between hope and proactive coping among college students which based on Chinese culture background. The Snyder scale of adult hope (Chinese edition), FAD and revised hope questionnaire of college students were used in 694 college students to analyze and make the conclusions as below:1. Based on the sample of college students, proactive coping questionnaire of Greeglass was revised to include 3 dimensions: goal setting, coping and proactive cognition. All the dimensions have a good reliably and validity index and can be taken as a valid questionnaire to scale the proactive coping of college students.2. There is a significant difference between the hope of college students and proactive coping in demography. A remarkable difference was found between"Goal setting"and"Proactive cognition"dimensions of proactive coping by different genders; between"path"and"dynamical"thinking dimensions of hope by different home towns; between"path"and"dynamical"thinking dimensions of hope and between"Goal setting","Coping"and"Proactive cognition"dimensions of proactive coping by different grades; in"coping"dimension of proactive coping by different levels; in"path"thinking dimension of hope by single-child and non-single child college students.3. Hope, family function and proactive coping in college students are positive correlation.4. Both the two dimension of"path"and"dynamical"thinking of hope in college students can forecast the proactive coping positively; the"path"thinking dimension of hope can forecast the family function positively; the"problem solving","role","action controlling"and"general function"dimensions can forecast the proactive coping positively.5.
