In the special period of the late twenties, because of the political changes, Peking evolved from being the political and cultural center into the backdrop. In this culturally dried up Peking city, the writers who were led by Zuo-ren Zhou stuck to their own pure literature position. Their determinations for the pursuit of literature were not dampened by the evolving environment. In fact, they became whole-heartedly dedicated to the creation of literary works, after the other magazines were closed. They created a pure literary journal -- Luotuocao. The target readers were college teachers and students, and the writers steadfastly focused on this path for the elites.Luotuocao being a pure literary journal that existed prior to the Peking school of thoughts, had provided a platform for the Beijing school's works to be freely published. It had a unique contribution in cultivating the writers of Beijing School. Recently, scholars have increasingly recognized the importance of this publication. Mr. Heng-wen Gao,a professor from Tianjin Normal University, introduced this journal in his book Beijing Writers: Academian Style. His overall introduction said that, Professor Liu, Zengren studied mainly from the perspective of the journal's developing history during the period of Luotuocao. It discussed the impact of the journal on Beijing's literary culture. Furthermore, Qing Dao University's Wang Jian discussed the role of journals at the process of creation and dissemination while focusing on Cultural Interpretation of Luotuocao . He Sansan, Hu Nan Teachers'University, in his master's thesis, focused on the literary creation of Fei Ming. However, most of the discussions are just an outline-style, or it is briefly mentioned when studying the group of Peking School of writers, or when studying the correlations among the writers and journals. There is no specific detailed study. Additionally, there has been no previous specific research done on the impact of the works that were published in the journals; especially that of the relationship between Luotuocao and the Heavy Bell Society. The most important thing is to refer back to the actual original works that were in the research journals, allowing the articles to speak for itself, and to appreciate the historical value of the works. That would be the fundamental of the research. The author felt that the significance of Luotuocao extends beyond being a tributary of the Beijing school of literary movement; it also serves as the main platform for the publishing of the founders'important works during their creative life. All these works has unprecedented values in the literary history. For example, Sensai Essay represents Zhou Zuo-ren 's prose peak; the most important novels of Fei Ming are The Bridge and The Biography of Mr.Moxuyou; Salad was written by Pingbo Yu. The unique historical period, which the journals were published, contributed to the drastic changes in the main authors'writing styles. Consequently, the works that were published in the journal had a profound influence on the young writers'future styles and aesthetic orientations. It is precisely because of this journal, that inspired some of the students in Peking to become literary writers. This article reassesses the literary impact of Luotuocao.First, an introduction of the founding and ending of Luotuocao and the survival strategy of Luotuocao colleagues in the early thirties, and understanding the living condition of the writers in Peking, plus how the living condition caused the differences in creative ideas compared to the authors from the South. Next, the works that were published in the journal had a profound influence on the young writers'future styles and aesthetic orientations. Such an example is evident via the discussion of the impact of an article, written by Zuoren Zhou, that talked about how Jose Martinez Ruiz, a Spanish writer, his work's influence on Zhilin Bian, Fen Lu, and Zengqi Wang. His influence via the melancholy tone used in portraying a Spanish ancient city affected Lu Fen's descriptions of the atmosphere of the Chinese town; in turn, his writing style of"prosaic novel"have played an important part in the formation of that of Wang Zengqi's. Jose Martinez Ruiz deep reflections on life had impacted the works of Zhilin Bian. All of these cannot be ignored . In addition, this paper discusses the effect of aesthetic value of Ruiz's"generation of the year of 1898"on those who have taken the same interest including at Luotuocao and other scholars.Meanwhile, this thesis explores the evolution of the Luotuocao authors'change in writing styles during this period and its significance in literary history. Specifically, an often neglected point in literary history is being raised: that an inextricable link exists between Luotuocao and"Heavy Bell"Society. From reading the letters and diaries of the members of the"Heavy Bell"Society, they tried their best throughout the publishing process. From the beginning of the Luotuocao, the members of the"Heavy Bell"Society, Zhi Feng had been playing the capacity as publisher, and the place of the journal's publication is Yang Hui's place of residence. According to the letters among the Heavy Bell Society members, the members treated Luotuocao as their society's journal. Furthermore, by comparing Heavey Bell and Luotuocao, there are similarities in their journal's style and focus. But this point had been neglected in the history of literature. Finally, through comparing Luotuocao and other pure literary journal at the same period highlight its historical significance. This article used archival materials and text reading method to complete this writing process. Materials were collected as complete as possible to ensure total control and selection of the topic.
