Research On The Style Of Chinese Contemporary Documentary Photography

The Chinese contemporary photography studied from the April 5th Movement of 1976.Great changes have taken place in the identity and creative ideas of the photographers during the 30 years. Meanwhile, photographers and the audience's cognition and understanding about essential attribute of contemporary photography is gradually in-depth. Now the traditional documentary photography is gradually transforming towards the contemporary photography.Under the influence of the China's national situation and the western concept of documentary photography, people's outlook on life, values ,aesthetics standard and the changing relationship between people makes the photographers observe the world in a different way, new ideas and new standards have been progressively integrated into the works of the traditional photographers. The expression of Chinese documentary photography begins changing towards diversity style. Therefore, the accurate location of the creative ideas and expressions of the contemporary documentary photography cannot be made overnight. It should follow the predecessors'footsteps and combine with the regular pattern of its modern development to provide enough theoretical basics for its accurate location at last.This paper consists of four parts. At first, it introduces the definition of documentary photography and makes an explanation of the understanding of"document",from which we can know that documentary photography has its own basis but always on the change. The next part of this paper explains the characteristics of the contemporary photography and analyses the value of the Chinese contemporary photography; The third part of this essay puts emphasis on the explanations of the diversity of the style of the documentary photography ;At the end of the paper ,it mainly discusses the prospects and future trends of the Chinese contemporary documentary photography on the basis of the previous theoretical basics.
