In the history of modern Chinese literature, Lu Xun's position is indisputable. Lu Xun has become a school of thought. It is no exaggeration to say that, as for the study of Lu Xun, it's difficult to achieve a breakthrough. It has become a trend to find current literature focus in his novel and read him in a new way in recent years. Lu Xun's richness of thought is reflected through the continued development and involvement in current literature. Choosing"terror"as a breakthrough and Lu Xun's thought as a perspective, this article attempts to find the source of"terror"which is shrouded in Lu Xun's novel and can not be taken away, so as to find a new space for Lu Xun's thought and study of novel. Going around the three higher frequent images——"death","ghosts and gods","darkness", in his novel, combing psychological and sociological theories, as well as parsing and decomposing the quality of"terror"in Lu Xun's novel layer upon layer, the text tries to understand and grasp the"terror"in Lu Xun's novel comprehensively. With the description of the characteristics of"terror", expression of the way of"terror", and the understanding of aesthetic value of"terror", the article goes deep into the true core of terror in Lu Xun's novel, and finally a conclusion can be obtained that, it's the darkness of human nature and resistance of despair that constitute the core of terror which is distinctive for Lu Xun.
