The Research Of Tang Poetry Acceptance Of The Four Persons Of Virtue In Songjiang

The object of this thesis is "the four persons of virtue in Songjiang", which refer to Xu Xianzhong, He Liangjun, Zhang Zhixiang, and Dong Yiyang. They were all borned in Songjiang, their hometown were Songjiang prefecture, and lived in the Jiajing and Longqing era.The thesis mainly spreads from three aspects. The first aspect is about their lives, writings and associations. The second aspect will focus on their Tang poetry acceptance, and the thesis will research their circumstances of Tang poetry acceptance from four points of view:thoughts of poetics, concepts of Tang poetry, as well as judgments of poetry and arrangement of documents. The third aspect is about their poetry creation. The author will make detailed analysis of the characteristics of their poems, which is not only one aspect of their Tang poetry acceptance, but also can verify their thoughts of poetics.Making a general observation of their lives, one can find that they mainly lived in Songjiang, Wuzhong, and Nanjing, which are far away from the capital. Their imperial examinations were not smooth, and some of them worked as county magistrate or adviser. Their positions were very idle; therefore, they were quite unsatisfied. They made their homes in some other places, or went on pleasure trips, and had closely friendship with scholars from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Nanjing. They wrote poems to each other, and accepted their influence. They were learned and prolific, such as Xu xianzhong's The Judgment of Tang Poetry, He liangjun's Notes Written in the Study with the Name "Four Friends ", as well as Zhang zhixiang's The Collection of Tang Poems. All these books had made great impacts on afterwards.In the history of Tang poetry acceptance of Ming Dynasty, they obviously occupied a place. Under the influence of Ming Dynasty Literature Retro Movement, they absorbed many literary thoughts from classicist school, and made in-depth study on poetics proposition, such as the relationship between poetry and feeling, rule and style, sound and tone and so on, which enriched the Tang poetics of Ming Dynasty.They kept their literary tradition while being influenced by the literature retro movement, and injected new contents into retro theory mainly in the area of aesthetic conception of poetry, the style of poetry and the artistic style of poetry, presenting many differences compared with the retro faction. Generally speaking, they respected poems of Six Dynasties and Early Tang, pursued implicit artistic style, and practiced these theories in their poetries, which made contributions to correct the abuses of retro faction, and promoted the diversifications of Tang poetry theory.Furthermore, by means of deep ability of poetry appreciation, Xu xianzhong judged 83 poets in The Judgment of Tang Poetry, including many deep views, which were often quoted by researchers. By tons of hard work, Zhang zhixiang compiled The Collection of Tang Poems, which became one of the three sources of compiling The Complete Tang Poems, and made significant impacts on the later collections of Tang poems collections.
