The Reception Of Kant's Aesthetics In Recent 60 Years In China

Imanuel.Kant,a famous western philosopher and aesthetician,is the founder of German Classic Philosophy and Aesthetics. The reception history of Kant's aesthetics in China is a miniature of the contemporary political and social changes and the process of the"Western learning progressively spreading to the East".During the political ideological period lasting from the foundation of PRC to 1977, Kant was criticized for his subjective idealism and formalism. And in the opening period, the subjectivity in Kant's aesthetics participated the movement of ideological liberation and had a huge influence at that time. But in the period between the early 1990s to now, Kant's aesthetics has showed its significances in various aspects and promoted the intercourses and exchanges between western and Chinese aesthetics. This paper analyses the different periods of reception of Kant's aesthetics in China and shows the experiences we have gained and the price we have paid for development of the"Western learning progressively spreading to the East".
