A Study Of The Artistic Chracteristics Of Modern Chinese Picture Books

In the early twentieth century, because of the accelerated pace of life and the rapid development of science and technology, the modern people enter into a new era:an era of pictures. Picture book, a kind of new art form, with its inherent artistic charm, has flourished in China.Picture book is an art form, which uses the logic of pictures as a primary means for meaning, and the text as a complementary tool to guide the interpretation of the image meaning. An excellent picture book, not only explains the story with vivid characters, but also uses the colorful pictures in the play and unfettered imagination to deepen readers' impressions. At the same time, the varied painting styles, fanciful printing design and elegant printing are all the special features of today's picture books. Excellent picture books are not only the books for people to amuse themselves, but also the function of wanning hearts. Readers can find the other different themselves in a pure pitiable world. Contemporary picture books, as a reading culture of today's society, have gradually become one of the symbols of this era.Therefore, this study will try to gain a clear idea of the development of picture book art in China from Chinese modern picture books. The artistic characteristics of picture books and some case studies of picture books are our focus. Through this research, we can make an assessment on the artistic value of picture books and analyze the current situation of picture books at home and abroad to explore the developing trend of Chinese picture book art.
