The Art Research Of Chinese Native Picture Books 1979-1989

In recent years,more and more attention was paid to the creation and the research of children's literature,whose literary value and research importance was highly affirmed. As one important literary style of children's literature, picture books are detached from common infant literature and becomes an independent style.Along with the large translation introduction of many oversea excellent writings and the mass reading promotion activities, the upsurge of picture books is arrived as scheduled.But the attention which the academics have paid to picture books is insufficient, in both the creation and the research, most of them focus on the works appreciation and the teaching and psychological application of picture books. Moreover, for the options of text, they concentrate on some developed countries,such as Europe, America and Japan, where picture books are highly developed.About the research object, the paper selects the picture books in the decade 1979-1989 when picture books has made great progress in both the quantity and the quality. Due to the historical limitation, those pictures books at that time are incapable to equate with the present picture books on the aspects of binding and layout styles, but they still have unnegligible artistic value.The paper discusses the artistic value of works in this period, mainly adopts the classification method and textual reading method, emphasizes on the aspects of picture books'internal elements and external performance.According to the publication situation of native picture books,it also talks about the picture books' creation models and the rereading of past works,in order to provide resource and reference for the research and development of Chinese native original picture books.The picture books in 1979-1989 present a state of natural development before the concept self-consciousness of the modern picture books.As for the internal elements, the picture books in this period refers to all kinds of themes and content, in the genre of tale, it has folktales, realistic stories,imaginary folktales,while in the genre of knowledge, it has science picture books and crambo picture books;As it has different views of children,different books reflect different views,such as children-oriented idea, teaching in joy, utilitarian, some works have the bright historical characteristics. As far as external performance is concerned, the works in this period are in the low stage in the perspective of binding and layout style, but it shows the trend from paper-cover to hardcover. In the relation of text and picture, the text and picture cooperate properly in some works,tell story together, the others give priority to text or picture.In the perspective of painting style, it has realism, abstract, nationality and so on. Many painters mix together many kinds of Chinese and western drawing techniques in the creation, then forms personal particular style.The creation model collecting stories first,then carrying on the drawing in this period makes picture books present the phenomenon of the same story, different versions.Recently, some publishing company such as New Buds publishing house, Gui Zhou People's press reprint many Chinese original picture books published in the last century, The Little Tadpoles Looking for His Mother, The Carrot Getting Back, The Pig Eating Watermelon etc.When the Chinese native picture books are further developed, many original works in the past also obtain more attention, and the rereading mode is a problem worth considering.Chinese native picture books starts form the 1920s,until now has experienced a long developing process,which is still in the unceasing exploration. Comparing with the western developed countries,Chinese original picture books have a big gap.But along with the concept self-consciousness of modern picture books as well as the promotion of each strength's impetus, we may foresee the glorious future of Chinese picture books.
