The Relationship Between Covert Narcissism And Romantic Partner's Satisfaction Of College Students

Narcissism is a popular research theme in western psychology realm, but in China, narcissism, especial covert narcissism related research is rare. However, the nature of narcissism can be found in ancient Chinese literature, and has far-reaching effects in the whole Chinese society. In today's China, people have a greater sense of self, greater thought of self-independence, which makes the narcissism gradually formed and strengthened. In this context, the research of covert narcissism has important theoretical and practical value. Meanwhile, Campbell had proved the relationship between narcissism and love, which makes love research, becomes an important theme in narcissism. The College years is an important period for development of self-awareness, thus make the research of narcissistic personality characteristics and romantic relationship get a lot of attention. Given this situation, the present study was based on the narcissism scale, college students group, focus on the relationship between narcissism and love research. In this study, the initiatory covert narcissistic personality questionnaire was based on literature review, open-ended questionnaire, and then, large sample were taken and analyzed to compile the final version. The results show that:(1) The covert narcissistic personality is a Multi-dimensional concept, which have four dimensions: self-superior, interpersonal sensitivity, self-appreciation, self-protection.(2) The Covert narcissism questionnaire has good reliability and reliability, can be apply for test college student' covert narcissism.(3) There was significant sexual difference on covert narcissism; further post hoc analysis found that boys and girls in self-superior, self-isolation factors significantly different average scores are significantly different.(4) There were significant differences among disciplines on the four factors covert narcissism.(5) In the factors of self-superior, self-protection, we found significant age differences. It shows that different participants had a different level of covert narcissism.(6) Covert narcissism had a significant negative correlation with overall satisfaction of partner relationship. Only the factors of self-appreciation and love Satisfaction have no significant relationship with narcissism.
