"Three Girls United As One"

All vocal arts (in broad sense) in China are the popular performance form, such as drama, quyi, Chinese folk song, artistic songs (which create after May fourth period), popular music. With the evolution of times and century, vocal arts in China develop fast, especially after Bel canto afferent China in the early 20 century. The friction, communication and fusion between the vocal music culture of China and western are always the problem which vocal circle concerns.In the 1980s, the professor Wu Qiuzhi in Henan University, had explored a new vocal training and singing method-----the national vocal music teaching method which means"the singing method of true voice in falsetto position", and trained groups of music talents who can sing by several singing methods. Nowadays, the successful of singer Wu Bixia, who are popular in East and West, proved the feasibility of"Three girls united as one". In her master's dissertation, WU Bixia got a conclusion: there are many differences about singing methods between the East and West, but one's singing function is enough to hold these two different singing methods. The most important is the open singing concept and flexible thinking methods.We must take advantage of the western Bel canto which is scientificalness, and combine with the national music to establish Vocal School with Chinese characteristics. Nowadays, Chinese vocal arts have the tendency of diversified development, thus the Chinese vocal arts should and must take the way of diversified development which coincide with scientific development law.
