The history of the development of visual culture is to a large extent the history of the development of human culture. The present visual culture is following to the forefront of contemporary culture increasingly and playing the important role of the social and cultural development. As a new form of culture, it's will not only mark the beginning of a change in cultural patterns and shape, but also means that the human mind form of a conversion. In such a change, we can see that the animation itself just be a mass culture of consumer society which with the image-based and modern-driving mass culture. Therefore, the support of the consumer society,mass media, as well as the rise and development of science and technology is not only the main causes to prompt a visual culture change but also the deep-level incentives of contemporary animation design development. Now, the rapid development of animation has attracted our attention and became to a broad and complex range of social and cultural phenomenon which closely related to our lives.The animation character design is the foundation of the existence and development of the visual cultural. So in this paper, the author trying to analysis the consumer market,the demand for popular culture,the media or visual technology which influence the development of contemporary animation , at the same time, combine the properties of animation and the characters of visual cultural to discuss the methods and Strategies of animation character design in the context of visual culture times as well as the trend of Chinese animation. We hope the discuss and analysis will become to the correct and positive guidelines to promote the animation design and industry development, and offer an enlightenment of the relevant theoretical system construction too.
