An Analysis On Yi-ology Of Chen Menglei

Academic characteristics of the early Qing Dynasty was in an important period of change. In this period civil scholars began to reflect the abuses of thought of Ming Dynasty. They brought about fierce criticism on Noe-Confucianism which talked about only human mind and nature, conmenced attaching importance to Confucianism, and paid attention to practicalness of academics, all of which accelerated Noe-Confucianism's transforming to be Han Dynasties' Confucianism. At the same time, the official which also paid attention to practicalness of academics worshipped Cheng Zhu-Confucianism which was considered as official philosophy. This signify reversion from Lu-Wang Confucianism Ming Dynasty to Cheng Zhu-Confucianism.In the context of this time, Chen Menglei's Yi-ology, which emerged from the thought of Wang Bi, Cheng Yi, Su Shi, LaiZhide,ZhouYi Zhengyi, Zhou Yi Da quan which shows Zhu Xi's Yi-ological thought. Finally he finished the famous work—"" which covered ZhouYi Qianshu.ZhouYi Qianshu hasn't been studied deeply. There are only Mr Pan Yuting's Skeleton of Chen Menglei and Yang Dongsheng 'Yi-ology, Mr Zhou Zhenfu's Translation and Annotation of ZhouYi" and Mr Wang Xuequn's The Study of Yi-ology in the Beginning of Qing which are about it. This thesis carries out deep and systematic discussion about Yi-ology of ZhouYi Qianshu on the foundation of previous study. Several aspects are mainly discussed as follow.1. Background of time and source of thought of Chen Menglei's Yi-ology. Trying to find the source of time and Yi-ology for the purpose of preparation for studying his thought systematically. With the reversion from Lu-Wang Confucianism to Cheng Zhu-Confucianism, Zhu Xi-Confucianism was considered as official philosophy, whose thought is showed mainly in ZhouYi Benyi and also in his other books such as ZhouYi Zhushu, Chengshi Yizhuan, Sushi Yizhuan, ZhouYi Daquan and ZhouYi Jizhu,etc. which pay attention to Li's meaning.2. Can not be used as Stubborn principle: Hermeneutic principle of Yi-ology. By establishing this opening principle, limitation of only one way to study is broken, which gives the base for reasonable explanation of ZhouYi. When discussing Chen Menglei's Yi-ological hermeneutic principle, I enter the value of his Yi-ological hermeneutic one.3. The View Yi's Creation in "Li Exists Earlier than the Book Does". Chen Menglei showed his thought of Yi-ology by explaining the creation , the essence and use , and QianKun of "Yi" who put forward that "Li Exists Earlier than the Book Does"; the essence of "Yi" is to turn to spirit, to change, to paradise; the use of "Yi" is only deep, only thin, only heaven; "Yi" is about Li of QianKun.4.The View of Image and Number in "A Image Contains Li and Number". On the base of "Image contains Li and Number", Chen Menglei reasonably used the way to choose Images , accepted the thought of Eight Seasons, combined the view of YaoImage and the theory of Yi's Number, and formed his own thought of Image and Number.5. Li's View of "Man Is the Most Spiritual One among the World". Chen Menglei coherently interpreted a series of propositions such as Taiji, Wuji, YinYang, Shen, Dao, etc. On the base of his predecessors, he emphasized human's value ,discussed ethic rules and moral requirement and put forward the principle that "cultivating one's morality" and "cultivating one's mind" must go hand by hand. He also discussed the connection among "Li", "Xing", "Ming", "TianDi", "Wuxin",and so on.6. The View of Theory and Practice in "to Repress Yin and to Spur Yang, in Order to Prolong His Life". In the practical ideological trend, Chen Menglei lodged "to repress Yin and to spur Yang, keeping right position all the time", "Reminding Himself and Correcting Mistakes, in Order to Prolong His Life" which are regarded as the principle of administration and making a living, demonstrating his manner of being an official and his ideal politics, showing the modern constructive meaning of Yi-ology.
