Discussion On Huang Xiaoyang’s "Number Two Heads"

The concept of officialdom novels mainly summed up from the subject matter ofa novel and the thematic implication is the type of novel which reflected life byrealism． It originated in the condemnation novels in late Qing, and flourished in theninety’s of the twentieth Century． To the ninety’s, relax environment, humanexpectation to corruption, numerous publication of literary periodical and promotionof television media gave rise to the springing up of novels in the theme of “official”．These works became a unique scenery in contemporary literary world because theyfocused on exposing officialdom, reflecting the power struggle inside officialdom,describing the ups and downs and revealing the official dark corruption with theattitude of envisaging the social reality, paying attention to the sufferings of thecommon people, revealing the dark ugly, speaking boldly in defense of justice andpleading for the people． But restricted by time and the author’s view, these workstended to unilaterally attribute the emergence of this phenomena on reality or societyand failed to deal with the various negative phenomena by positive attitudeappropriately, which also made this kind of officialdom novels more and moreinadaptable to the new era． As the representation of new officialdom novels, HuangXiaoyang’s "Number Two Heads" series of novels opened a new era of officialdomnovels． It no longer obsessed with quality and greed, but began to think rationallyand philosophically, in the meantime, the protagonist in the power relations showedpositive enterprising spirit．This article combined with the author’s growth experience and social lifeenvironment tried to deeply analyze emphatic officialdom wisdom, such as benevolentgovernment, stratagem in the open and so on, through combing the thematicimplication and narrative feature of Huang Xiaoyang’s “Number Two Heads” series．At the same time, by comparing Huang Xiaoyang’s “Number Two Heads” series withnovels in same period, the author put forward his own opinion on the success anddeficiencies． This paper was divided into five parts except the introduction andconclusion, including the factors that affect Huang Xiaoyang’s officialdom novels,the perspective and parsing of officialdom political wisdom, the narrative art of“Number Two Heads” series, female image shaping type and desire narration．The introduction part briefly expounded the research status of Wang Yuewen’s officialdom novel and the significance of this subject, pointing out the key andinnovative point which mainly embodied in the comparison with officialdom novels inthe same period and analysis of female image．The first chapter, mainly analyzing the factors that influence the creation ofHuang Xiaoyang’s novel, was divided into two parts: rough literature road andJingchu, Huxiang Culture．The second chapter analyzed the political wisdom, power wisdom and livingwisdom in Huang Xiaoyang’s “Number Two Heads” series from three aspects:stratagem in the open, political exchanges and benevolent government．The third chapter, and other novels comparative analysis "Number Two Heads"for the limitation and breakthrough of the main characters, from the "new officials "and the portrayal of women in two aspects, analysis of Huang Xiaoyang novels on thepioneering role of officialdom novel and not break the limitations.The fourth chapter, mainly analyzes the artistic features of Huang Xiaoyang’sOfficialdom novels. From the use, the dramatic writing techniques used by analogywith the rhetoric of detail description of three aspects, the art of Huang Xiaoyang’snovels are discussed, highlighting its unique aesthetic characteristics.The conclusion part made a brief comparison between Huang Xiaoyang and otherofficial fiction writers, meanwhile, pointed out the inadequacies in Huang Xiaoyang’sworks, namely the limitations of perspective and defect in the shaping of femaleimages．...
