Study On Defining Of Chinese Language Dictionary

Defining occupies central position in the compiling work of dictionaries, and explanation is the standard by which to judge what is good and what is bad about the quality of dictionaries, at the same time, it is the lifeline of a dictionary.From many years to the present many specialists and scholars have been doing some research and discussion on the defining of dictionaries, receiving a great deal of achievement. The achievement of explanation mainly incorporates relationship between the approach of critical interpretation of ancient texts and the explanation of dictionary,between linguistics and lexicography,function of the analysis of YiSu on meaning discrimination,establishing and forming of item of a dictionary entry,method of explanation,drawback of explanation and metalanguage and so on. The present research mainly sort out and generalize the achievement by critical interpretation of ancient texts, linguistics, semantics and metasemiotics, in order to upgrade the degree of accuracy of explanation in compiling a dictionary..At the same time, on the basis of study of forefathers' explanation, the present research indicates drawback of explanation which looks like the reflection. But dictionary editors have to confront it, which is the breakthrough point of creative conception of dictionaries in the future .
