Lien-sheng Yang(1914—1990) is a modern famous sinologist, who wins great reputation in the western sinology filed. He studied in Tsinghua University in 1930s, after which he went to America in 1940s, becoming the leader in the sinology filed in America in 1950s. That his engagement in academic studies including a wide spectrum of science through his whole life causes his academic view high as well as broad, which makes tremendous contribution to both the western sinology field and the Chinese academic field.However, due to Yang's completion in the United States, his works are published in English, which leads scholars or students domestically are still not quite familiar with his accomplishments. In view of this situation, through analysis of professor Yang's diligent contribution to his research in the social and economical history of China in which field he has done admirable work all his life, the author tries to make a clear understanding of his characters of researching history and history spirits with conclusion of his academic achievements for demonstrating his academic heritage.This paper consists of the preface, the body part and the conclusion. The preface introduces the significance of the topic and the related researches. The body is divided into three parts. The first part analyzes the reasons for formation of his academic concept and analysis path on the base of professor Yang's academic life's start point and resources. The second part, dissertating his study processes in Chinese social economical field, reveals his academic concept and personality traits of researching history based on analyzing his great work Money and Credit in China. The third part attaches importance to his history contribution and influence, as Professor Yang inherits and promotes the researching history tradition which developed in 1900s natively. His academic achievements and scholarship, as academic heritages, are of great importance to both western sinology and academic in mainland china. The conclusion summarizes the scholar academic life.
