With the deepening of urbanization in China, more and more rural-labors migrate into cities with their wives and sons. Whether they can adapt to city life become an important issue as it is highly related with the harmony of society and the stability of the country.The adaptation of these kids into city life has drawn great attention nationwide, especially in the field of psychology. Research One is aimed to analyze the relationship of social adaptation and mental health of these kids and the characteristics of their mental development. Research two is aimed to give some intervention towards their social adaptation.In research one, we have tested 643 children with social adaptation scale revised by hutao in 2007 and mental health scale revised by zhou bucheng in 1996. In research two, we have given some intervention to these kids. The result is as following:1. Social adaptation varies with gender; boys have stronger adaptation than girls.2. Social adaptation varies with age. Children aged 3 to 6 have an upward curve in adaptation capability while children aged 6 to 8 have a downward curve.3. Mental health of these kids varies with gender. Girls score higher than boys. Boys are healthier than girls in mental health.4. Mental health of these kids varies with age. Please refer to diagrams below.5. Mental health scores are negatively related with the following factors: self-study determination, environmental satisfaction, interpersonal-harmony,6. The investigation further show: the mental health and all factors are predicated by the least three factors of social adaptation. The factors of society-self-identity is important forecast variable of mental health.7. Grouping intervention to these kids of rural-labors is very effective, it increases their adaptation scores. The trial group has significant changes in their adaptation scores. Case study also shows that the intervention is effective.
