Feng yu-lan's study on Chuang-tzu is one part of his study about Chinese culture. He continued his explaining on Chuang-tzu in his whole philosophy study. "Xiao-Yao" and "Qi-Wu" were regarded as two most important points in Chuang-tzu's spirits. From the culture comparisons, translating, Chuang-tzu's philosophy explaining in the philosophy history to the re-appraising to Chuang-tzu, Feng yu-lan consisted explaining Chuang-tzu with the western researching methods, and comparing Chuang-tzu with some western philosophers, so that more comparisons and researches on philosophy and different cultures were made after his researches. On the other hand, Feng yu-lan quoted Chuang-tzu into his "New Li-Xue" philosophy system as an important supply to the western philosophy system, while the Chuang-tzu's philosophy was improved.
