Self-esteem is an important criterion of individual mental health, which not only restricts the direction of personality development but also is a core factor which impact social adaptability of individual. Researches have showed that psoriasis patients had significantly lower self-esteem and mental health compared to ordinary people. Although some scholars have done psychological intervention for psoriasis patients from the perspective of psychological therapy, and achieved gratifying results, most of these intervention researches were lack of support of psychology theory and in-depth study. This study investigated the self-esteem level of male psoriasis patients and their coping styles, combined with interviews, referred to previous self-esteem intervention research, developed a pertinently group training program for intervention in order to improve the self-esteem level of male psoriasis patients and their coping styles. On this basis established a feasible intervention program to reference by future researchers.This study, investigates 62 psoriasis patients using The Feelings of Inadequacy Scale and Ways of Coping Inventory. 18 patients are selected randomly and are divided into experimental group and control group. 9 members in experimental group are received group training 10 times in 3 weeks. We do nothing to the control group. Two weeks later, post-evaluation are conducted on two groups. The results showed that self-esteem level of the experimental group has been significantly increased compared to the pre-evaluation, in which the average score, self-esteem, social confidence and appearance are significantly different; self-esteem level of experimental group are significantly better than the control group. Compared to group training before, experimental group's negative coping style of self-blame and avoiding have significant changed, positive coping style of problem-solving and seeking social support have significantly increased. The coping styles of experimental group are significantly better than the control group. The subjective evaluation and the report of experimental group members also show the improvement by group training, higher self-confidence and more objective and positive in coping.From this study we can find that:1,Compared to intervention before, the self-esteem and coping style of intervention group have significantly improved after the psychological group intervention.2,Using group training program of this study is feasible and effective in improve self-esteem and coping styles of psoriasis patients.
