This study to the patients on MMT of lanzhou city the qilihe area as the researchobject, consists of two components which are qualitative research and quantitativeresearch. This study is to investigate the characteristics of resilience of the patients onMMT and explore the protective factors of their resilience, at the same time usinggroup counseling to improve the level of patients on MMT’resilience. The resultsshowed that:(1)Resilience level of different time of taking methadone, educationlevel, family monthly income of patients on MMT is remarkable difference; there wasno significant difference in gender, length of drug of abusing, marital status, ofchildren, status of parents are still alive.(2)Significant differences were found intenacity, courage, persistence, resource utilization between the resilience group andnon-resilience group.(3)The level of resilience of patients on MMT significantlyhigher than the level before group guidance.Through the analysis of the discussion, the study concluded:(1)time of taking methadone, education level, family monthly income affectedThe level of resilience of patients on MMT, and gender, length of drug of abusing,marital status, of children, status of parents are still alive have no influence to theresilience of patients on MMT.(2)The protective factors of resilience of the patients on MMT included: internalprotective factors consist of tenacity, courage, persistence, resource utilization, inthe face of reality, self-esteem, spiritual support; and external protective factorsinclude the support from family, family income, the support from community,MMT.(3)The group counseling based on the theory of cognitive behavioral cansignificantly improve the resilience of the patients on MMT. The programme in thisstudy is feasible and effective for improving The patients on MMT’resilience,and itcan be used in mental health education after modification in Methadone maintenancetreatment centers.
