Child-Themed Traditional Chinese Portrait Painting And Artistic Expression

Following the advancement of Chinese portrait paintings,traditional Chinese painting with children as subject matter evolved from centuries worth of national cultural evolution thus forming its own unique artistic character and aesthetic art form.The topic of child-themed traditional Chinese painting hints to the history of emerging forms of artistic expression using such topics as basis for subject matter.An analysis of the ancient and modern themes in contemporary Chinese painting examine the development of different forms of artistic expression and inspiration.This paper seeks to unify this artistic exploration by offering an opinion on the future outlook of producing child-themed traditional Chinese portrait painting as a form of artistic expression.This paper comprise four chapters:The first chapter outlines the theme of children in traditional Chinese painting history.It explores the emergence and development process of having children be the scope and subject matter in ancient Chinese paintings.The second chapter focuses on topics of contemporary form of artistic expression and exploration analysis.Firstly,an overview of contemporary Chinese painting of children;followed by a collation of ancient forms of artistic expression comparatively summed up in creative concepts,methods and performance.The third chapter elaborates on author's personal experiences with creating child-themed Chinese portrait paintings.An awareness of four important points such as Composition,shape,pen and ink in generation and creation of contemporary creativity is also discussed.The fourth chapter deals with the suggestion of future direction and development of child-themed Chinese portrait paintings.
