New England experienced rapid population growth in 17th Century, the earliest colony which depended on natural reproduction to achieve sustainable growth of the population of the British American colonies. This article attempts to research the pattern change of population growth of New England in 17th century, mainly including the causes of emigration to New England in 17th century, immigration structural analysis, the continued growth in immigration; the variables impact natural growth in population, population growth and social and economic development in New England.The introduction part mainly introduces the foundation on which the topic is chosen,and presents research situations at home and abroad, research methods, the purpose and innovation and the lack of this paper.The first part focuses on migration and the development of Plymouth colony; Puritan emigration and colonies expansion; immigrants continued to grow and the natural population growth realized.The second part mainly expounds the variables impact natural population growth in New England, including marriage and fertility, mortality and life expectancy, environmental factors, population mobility and the population idea of 17th century which impacted New England population growth.The third part emphasizes analysis population growth and the development of colonial New England. Focuses on population growth in New England and the formation of native society, mainly from three aspects: population and linguistic consistency, social autonomy and achieve long-term stability of society, the weakening of church influence and commercial culture's emergence. Also expounding population growth of New England and economic development, population growth provide a variety of different forms of labor for New England, agriculture, extractive industries and the commercial trade in the 17th century New England were fairly rapid development.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper, pointing out that New England in the 17th century about 50's to 60's implementation of the changes in the pattern of population growth; natural growth had become the primary means of population growth. Born locally population dominant, feature of New England society localization appeared, New England from immigrant society into native society.
