Attachment is described as a strong and enduring affective connection between individuals and particular persons,who may be his or her parents,peers or others.As the first internalized cognitive working model in individual development,attachment is not only through the development in their whole lives,but affects their social development.This research takes boarding and non-boarding youngers as the subjects, through descriptive statistics analysis,T-test,variable analysis,regression analysis, correlation analysis to discuss their properties and characteristics of attachment as well as their influence to mental health.The survey is made to a randomly-selected subject sample of 838 students from the junior middle school to the senior middle school with the following instruments:parents and peer attachment questionnaire (IPPA),Teachers and Students questionnaire in Chinese version and mental health self-assessment SCL-90.SPSS15.0 statistical software package is used for data processing and analysis.The conclusions of results are as follows:1 whether boarding or non-boarding students,the score of attachment to mothers is the highest,the score of assistance and acceptance of attachment between teachers and students is lower than the score of rejection.Moreover,the degree of the trust to mother is far greater than that of trust to fathers and his companions.In boarding youngers,the score of communication with mothers is the highest,while the score of communication with companions is the highest in non-boarding youngers.2 As for the boarding youngers,there is significant sexual difference only on the attachment rejection between the teachers and students,and others do not have significant difference.In the non-boarding adolescents,peer attachment for boys and girls is significantly different,in which the degree of peer attachment of male students is evidently lower than of the female students.In addition,the score of attachment to mothers and peer communication of male students is significantly lower than of the female students.However,whether boarding or non-boarding,the score of attachment rejection between teachers and students tomale students is significantly lower than of the female students.3 During the attachment of the boarding young people,the attachment of father, mother,fellow,teachers and students in every stage develops steadily,but in the third year they are more attached to peer,mothersattachment is slightly lowered,the score of attachment between teachers and students in the second year of junior and senior school is the lowest.During the attachment of the non-boarding young people,except for the mother attachment is from rising to decreasing,the other three types of attachment are up again after the first drop,and four kinds of attachment on grade dimension have the significant statistical meaning.The study also finds that four types of attachment are the lowest in the third year of junior school,while in the first year of junior and senior schools,they are the highest.However,the mother attachment has the highest point in the second year of junior school.Dimensions of the attachment can be seen with the development trend of grade, whether boarding or non-boarding,the three dimensions on the whole have stable development,but declining in the third year.Moreover,study also finds that parents trust and alienation scores far greater than peer trust and alienation scores,Peer communication scores far greater than parents communication.To the boarding young people,the score of the attachment of peer communication in the third year of junior is rising well.but,the non-boarding is decreasing slightly.The score of assistance and acceptance of attachment between teachers and students of the boarding young people in the third year of junior is far higher the non-boarding,For the attachment rejection between teachers and students,whether boarding or non-boarding attachment,there is high score point in the first year of senior and junior school,the third year of junior is the lowest score point.However,the score of the boarding young people is up and the non-boarding young people is down from the second year of senior to the third.4 In urban and rural areas,whether boarding or non-boarding attachment,there was a significantly negative difference on the parents attachment.In addition, attachment of non-boarding young people and teachers,assistance and acceptance of attachment between teachers and students as well as peer communication exist obvious negative difference in the urban and rural areas.5 Whether boarding or non-boarding teenagers,there are significant positive correlation among all kinds of attachments,and parent-child attachment can forecast fellow attachment and attachment of students and teachers well.However,only attachment to mothers can forecast fellow attachment well in the non-boarding young people.6 All kinds of attachments among them and the various dimensions of mental health have a significant negative correlation,the father attachment and attachment of teachers and students almost can forecast every dimension of mental health well, besides,companion attachment can also forecast their interpersonal reaction and hostilities well.The study also reveals that mother attachment can only forecast paranoia of non-boarding young people,peer attachment can forecast psychotic of non-boarding youngers.
