The Classical Resources Of Chinese Character's Type Design

Chinese character printing font design looks like having made a big achievement with plenty of the Chinese character fonts for selection,but only the insiders have worry about the esthetics and quality of the font design.Some experts are calling for more attention on the traditional character typeface especially Kaishu and the Woodblockprint typeface.However,such opinion just raise the questions without detail solution; valuable discussion and sorting works on the research on the calligraphy and Woodblock-print typeface from the point of view of type design is also few,most opinions are copied from the resource of calligraphy books or text version books without any new idea or deep thinking.The sorting work without meditation is in vain,In order to apply the research results of calligraphy theory and text version theory to type design,we have to filter useless ones carefully,which is a most important work now.Much further,if research is not subtle enough to analyze the shape details of each character,no matter how much historical material you obtain,you still can't integrate the typeface style and the actual composition in the character's type designing."From the aspect of character's type design practice,give considerable selection and deep analyse on the Chinese calligraphy and Woodblock-print typeface is the original Intention of this thesis.The author intends to build up establish a Traditional typeface resources style and shape analysis system.In this case,"resolution" refers to the explanation of typeface style,and "analyzes" dials the deformation analysis of typeface.In depicting ancient Chinese calligraphy and Woodblock-print typeface their own development context and social background,use "style description" and "form analyse" tools and do deep study on specified fonts,hoping that through this kind of "analysis",could assist the creation of special style of temperament,and various modern Chinese character's type design so that we can have an accurate expression on needed style when designing printing character font.The author believes "melting the ancient things" and "creating the new things" is mutually beget each other,when facing the classical resources,what we need is piety and the patience.
