Based on 8105 characters in "The List of General standard Chinese Characters" of Songti typeface in mainland and PMingLiU typeface in Taiwan, we refer to previous studies,compare the difference between these simplified Chinese characters, focus on its causes and effects, and make revision suggestions.According to the previous studies, the thesis first briefly reviews different language policy between mainland and Taiwan, finds out the difference of Songti typeface in mainland and PMingLiU typeface in Taiwan, which can be divided into 19 types, and makes statistical analysis on each pair of different Chinese characters and corresponding radicals under every type. Meanwhile, from the perspective of visual and cognitive effects, the difference of character forms is divided into three degrees: weak, medium and strong. The thesis calculates the proportion of these characters and explore their concrete features. Furthermore, the thesis also summarizes the historical and realistic reasons of different character forms between mainland and Taiwan. Finally, the thesis put forward revision suggestions about each radical according to two aspects:frequency of occurrence, and difference degree.The discrepancy in print forms is an important embodiment of cross-strait font differences,A more detailed and comprehensive research will help us to explore possibilities and measures of the unifying Chinese character fonts, try to narrow the gap on cross-strait character forms in publishing, network communication,and other fields.
