Concerning On Chinese Classical Literary Criticism Of Li Changzhi

Mr. Li Changzhi was a scholar prolific critic on the history of modern Chinese literary criticism. He was not only had abundance cultural reflections and the theories of literary criticism, but also showed great talent in philosophy of art, literature and aesthetics, aesthetic education and other academic fields. Some of his literary criticism works and articles were not only related to the basic principles of literary criticism, the scope of the concept and criteria for judgment, but also covered the researches of writers of all over the world and comments of their works. However we can deeply felt his affectionate of Chinese classical literature from these voluminous writings. Li Changzhi dedicated his life to stick to the work of the classical literature of Chinese criticism with broad-mindedness and courage and insight, was really wonderful.This paper attempts to select the Chinese classical literary criticism monographs and related article of Mr. Li Changzhi in 1930s and 1940s for the study. First of all, we sort out and integrate his loved Chinese classical literary criticism, to explore characteristics of his theory, namely, biographical criticism and "type of feelings." Among them, biographical criticism was the main feature of Li's literary criticism, and"type of feelings " was the standard of literary criticism he originally created. Secondly, Li Changzhi in Classical Literary Criticism also accumulated the vision and practice of criticism strategies of relative stability; we will focus on specific texts of classical literary criticism as the theoretical basis for the study of Li Changzhi, and take his criticism of the style and methods of significant impact for analysis and evaluation. His use of strategies for criticism can be summarized as follows in three aspects: sympathy of literary criticism, culture of literary criticism and language of literary criticism. Thirdly, Li Changzhi spared no efforts to explain the essence of classical Chinese culture and literature, and highlighted his gift and talent in criticism, showing his confidence in literature "re-valuation" and longing of"communicate between the traditional and new literature ". But I think his criticism of classical literature more highlighted the unique value of his pursuits, namely, the recognition of the national culture, the pursuit of the ideal personality and highly aesthetic education. And the recognition of the national culture was the real motive he chosen to criticize Chinese classical literature, guardian of the national spirit and local culture was the ultimate purpose of inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional culture; the pursuit of the ideal personality showed his longing of people's freedom development and full liberation; he started with national sages'characters , hoping to shape ideal personality through the aesthetic educational of literary criticism, and achieved the integrity of human nature. Finally, as a literary critic of "criticism for the sake of criticism, life for the arts ", Mr. Li Changzhi on the Chinese literary stage during 1930s and 1940s, by the call for traditional cultures, modern interpretations of classical texts and heartily reflections of that current culture, affectionately generated the academic quality of truth-seeking and anti- servility spirit of criticism.
