On Zhou Wenying's Research About Chinese Logic

Zhou Wenying , who was the vice chairman of the Chinese Logic Institute, is a well-known modern logician. Additionally, he edited and wrote history of Chinese logical thought, history of Chinese logic (in five volumes), Zhou Wenying's academic works and others. Zhou Wenying focuses on the history of Chinese logic and the book, history of Chinese logical thought, leads him an important position in 20th century.Zhou Wenying reckons history of Chinese logic is the development of the history of Chinese formlogic, not including dialectical thinking, or ancient recognize the historical development of the logic of dialectics object thought. On the thought of research, he studies the history of Chinese logic from " pure form logic". While in the way of research, he compared the Chinese, western and historical analysis ways of research. Due to his " pure logic" research thought, his comparison on the Chinese, western & historical analysis is made not so pure, which causes his research result is a bit tend to western logic.Zhou Wenying's main points on the research of Chinese ancient logic as following: Gong Sunlong's logic is sophistic logic; Chinese ancient logic has no intention to establish entire Judge; Lu Sheng hadn't think Xunzi as Omissions and errors on the contribution of "ming xue"; The sequence of Mojing as following: Da Qu, Xiao Qu, Jing Shang, Jing Shuoshang, Jing Xia, Jing Shuoxia; Deduction logic, mainly reflecting on the theory of " Lian zhuti", appears on the South & North era of Wei jin Dynasty.Zhou Wenying claims China should has its own logic system and names this system as "Naming Discrimination Logic", which is the composition of "Naming Discrimination" & " logic"."Naming Discrimination" indicates the characteristics of China, while "logic"means the process of its purification, modernization and the integration with the world logic. Under the guide of "pure logic", he wrote an article, An Outl ine of Naming Discrimination Logic, to show the system of Chinese logic. In this article, he summarized the general methodology as " truth as base, practice named truth" and two principles, " deduction within the kind" & "examples of the same kind".
