This thesis divides ShiTuo's creations into two periods—early period and late period if we take the time 1949 as a dividing point. Without doubt, Shi Tuo's creations in early period have made outstanding achievements, this is scholars' consensus. At the same time, researches on his texts in early period are richly made, consequently achievements are rich. In contrast, Shi Tuo's creations in late period have been ignored, on which systematic studies are not sufficient. In view of this, this thesis makes an overall study on Shi Tuo's creations in late period by reading closely his works, thus summarizing the characteristics of his creations in late period based on his novels, short stories, historical novels, and essays. ShiTuo has been inclined to left-wing's literature spirit, has made efforts to identify himself with and adjust himself to adapt it gradually.Although Prizing people is the main theme of his creations in late period, in the novel texts overt discourse contains covert discourse (the author's personal discourse), which can only be interpreted that Shi Tuo hasn't failed to observe and contemplate reality, and hasn't completely given up his artistic personality. This paper also combines his creations in early period and creations in late period, studies his artistic personality, continuations and changes of his style; explores the reasons behind these continuities and changes; looks into his life, his literary orientation and his political mainstream consciousness, the suppression of literary norms on his creations and his hard struggle against maintaining artistic personality.The study finds out: Shi Tuo always sticks to the position of human nature, keeps on the main line of "anti-heroic narrative" in his creations, changes ironic art into humor, and pursues dramatic nature; Although Shi Tuo has made efforts to cater to the ideology of the mainstream literature, into which he hasn't blended really, and his creations still has been a considerable distance from mainstream literary norms; Shi Tuo's unique artistic personality and the estrangement of special context of the times led to the of his awkward and unknown position in literary history.
